Kelly Osbourne's drastic weight loss is back in the spotlight after her appearance at the 2026 BRIT Awards.

The singer attended the ceremony with her mother, Sharon Osbourne, to celebrate her father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne

The Black Sabbath frontman, who died in July 2025 at the age of 76,  received the Lifetime Achievement award. Kelly and Sharon accepted the posthumous award on his behalf.

Before taking the stage to honour Ozzy, the mother-daughter duo walked the red carpet alongside stars such as Harry Styles, Olivia Dean, Lola Young, Jade Thirlwall, Robbie Williams, Rosalía and Alex Warren

Pictures of the 41-year-old went viral online, with many commenting on her "gaunt" appearance and others remarking that she looked "dangerously thin".

It's not the first time social media users have expressed concerns about her weight loss, and she is well aware of what people have to say.

Kelly took to her Instagram Stories to slam the constant scrutiny.

"There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something," she wrote.

"Kicking me while I'm down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most."

The former TV personality adds that none of the comments about her proves strength, "it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character."

Kelly, who is the youngest of Ozzy's six children, had a close relationship with her father. The pair performed together on several occasions and recorded a duet version of Black Sabbath's 'Changes' in 2003.

The collaboration was a hit, reaching #1 on the UK Singles Chart.

"I'm currently going through the hardest time of my life. I should not even have to defend myself," she continued in her post.

"But I won't sit here and allow myself to be dehumanised in such a way!"

Despite the negative comments, scores of people have defended the star, urging people to practice kindness online. "She's still heartbroken, leave her alone," one X user wrote.

Another user added: "Women are constantly criticized for their weight and appearance—too skinny, too fat, too muscular. 'Eat more, eat less.' Just leave women alone!"

How did Kelly Osbourne lose weight?

Kelly has struggled with her weight for many years and previously described herself as an emotional eater.

In 2020, fans noticed she had lost considerable weight. Kelly, who reportedly lost over 38 kilograms, revealed that she underwent gastric sleeve surgery to help her shed the weight.

“All it does is change the shape of your stomach...It is the best thing I have ever done," she said on the 'Hollywood Raw' podcast.

While fans initially praised her weight-loss journey, they began to say that both Kelly and Sharon now look "unrecognisable", using before-and-after pictures to prove it.

In 2024, Kelly explained why she disappeared from the public eye while pregnant with her son, Sidney.

She told People that she gained a lot of weight during her pregnancy, and did not want people mocking her like they have done to celebrities such as Jessica Simpson.

"I gained 100 lbs... I was so frightened that would happen to me too that I hid. I just didn't want pictures out there. I didn't want to face it, and have people be like, 'Oh she's a moose!' So I just cut the problem out."

She also developed gestational diabetes during the pregnancy.

Social media users have accused Kelly and Sharon of using Ozempic (semaglutide injection), which is a medication for people with type 2 diabetes. However, it has been prescribed off-label for weight loss.

"My anti-ageing doctor just hands it out to anybody," Chelsea Handler claimed in 2023.

Sharon admits "going too far", revealing on the 'Howie Mandel Does Stuff' podcast that she "can't put on weight now".

"I think I went too far, and then I can't put it back on," the 73-year-old said.

Disclaimer:  According to the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA), “Ozempic is not registered in South Africa for use in weight-loss. Ozempic is only available on prescription and there are no generic versions of Ozempic registered in South Africa”.
