Mariah Carey's Christmas song smashes chart records
'All I Want for Christmas' has spent a record-breaking 21 weeks at number one.
They don't call her the 'Queen of Christmas' for nothing.
Mariah Carey's iconic Christmas song, 'All I Want for Christmas', has extended her record for the most total weeks at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The classic is the #1 song on the latest chart (December 27), securing 21 nonconsecutive weeks at the top since its release in 1994.
It is the longest-leading Hot 100 number one - beating Shaboozey's 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' and Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road' featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, which are tied with 19 weeks at #1.
'All I Want for Christmas' has now spent 78 weeks on the Hot 100 chart, overtaking Dua Lipa's 'Levitating'.
Carey has secured another record this festive season. She now has her 100th career week at number one. Other songs that have helped her achieve the feat include 'Vision of Love', 'Dreamlover', 'One Sweet Day' and 'We Belong Together'.
Rihanna is in second place with 60 weeks at #1.
Nine Christmas songs occupy the top 10 on this week's chart. 'Jingle Bells Rock' by Bobby Helms, 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree' by Brenda Lee, 'Last Christmas ' by Wham!, and Ariana Grande's 'Santa Tell Me', are in the top five.
Taylor Swift's 'The Fate of Ophelia' is holding on at #10. Swift's single, which was released in October, is currently #1 on the Top 40 with Danny Painter.
Social media users are impressed with Carey's record-breaking streak.
"Mariah continuing her record setting 21st week at Number 1 - also the first artist to spend 100 WEEKS at #1!! No one will ever touch her legacy! Queen of Billboard for a reason! " one Instagram user commented.
Another user wrote: "Taylor having the only non-Christmas song and Mariah being number one is THE best top 10 in [a] long time."
