Miley Cyrus shares exciting 'Hannah Montana' update
Miley Cyrus has teamed up with Disney for a special ‘Hannahversary’ to thank fans for sticking by her for 20 years.
Miley Cyrus is going back to where it all began. The singer-actress has shared a teaser clip for an upcoming special celebrating the character that made her famous - Hannah Montana.
The 'Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special' will air on Disney+ on March 24.
'Call Her Daddy' star Alex Cooper will host the live special in front of a live studio audience. According to Disney, the interview "will offer an intimate look at the creation of one of pop culture’s most iconic characters".
The 33-year-old made her debut on 'Hannah Montana' in March 2006 alongside her father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.
She played dual characters on the teen sitcom, Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana. The teen is a middle school learner by day and a music superstar by night.
Emily Osment (Lilly Truscott) and Jason Earles (Jackson Stewart) also featured in the main cast. The show ended in 2011 after four seasons.
"With heartfelt nostalgia and fresh perspective, Cyrus will revisit the moments, music and memories that defined an era. Viewers will be treated to never-before-seen archival footage, while some of the most memorable sets from 'Hannah Montana' are brought back to life — including the Stewart family living room and the legendary Hannah Montana closet.
"There will also be some familiar *notes* that find their way back into the spotlight," Disney said in a statement.
After leaving the show, Miley focused on her solo music career, releasing six albums, including 'Endless Summer Vacation'.
The Grammy Award-winner has also released several major hit songs, including 'Flowers', 'Wrecking Ball', 'Malibu' and 'Adore You'.
"'Hannah Montana' will always be a part of who I am," Miley said. "What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection."
“The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
