Singaporean model Chuando Tan is making headlines after sharing new pictures of himself to celebrate his 60th birthday.

"Today, on my 60th birthday, I am reminded that time is the only real wealth. Each sunrise arrives as an inheritance, not a guarantee. I am grateful to stand on this Earth still," he wrote on Instagram.

"The wiser path now is simple: return daily to nature and sunlight, and align myself with what endures. I wish for peace on earth."

While 60 is a milestone age, that's not what has people talking. Tan, who is also a fashion photographer, could easily pass for someone in their 30s.

"Is the 60-year-old in the room?" one woman asked. A second commented, "The most handsome grandpa."

Some joked that Tan is clearly a vampire: "Would you like some garlic bread?"

Not everyone is mesmerised by Tan's "youthful looks". Many social media users have also accused Tan of lying about his age.

However, several news and media publications in Singapore, China and other countries have stated his real age in interviews.

"Even as you grow older, you have to keep the sexiness in you. Not for others, but for yourself," the then 59-year-old told Vogue Man Singapore last year.

The secret to Chuando Tan's youthful looks

Both women and men have begged Tan to share the secret to his youthful looks.

Genetics aside, he has credited a good diet, exercise, and nurturing social connections for his "ageless" appearance.

Here's a look at some of the tips he shared with the South China Morning Post in 2024:

1. Use weights when exercising

Strength training is important as you age, as it helps prevent muscle mass loss, supports mobility, and boosts your metabolism. which slows down as you age, but particularly after 60.

'Squats, lunges, bench presses and pull-ups work multiple muscle groups at the same time. Studies show these time-effective routines help burn more calories, improve and build intermuscular coordination, strengthen the core and build muscle mass.'

2. Get enough Vitamin D

'Spend enough time in the sun to allow vitamin D synthesis, but beware that too much sun exposure can accelerate the ageing process. Tan recommends early morning and/or evening as the best times.'

3. Relationships with your loved ones are important

'Having social connections doesn’t just make us feel included and cared for, research shows; it’s also the strongest protective factor against depression.'

4. Don't underestimate the power of positivity

"Mindset plays a crucial role in shaping one’s path," he said.
