New twist in Coldplay ‘kiss cam’ concert drama

We all saw the infamous 'kiss cam' footage blasted at a Coldplay concert, but this is what we didn’t see behind the scenes, according to the woman at the centre of the controversy.

The HR executive who went viral after being captured on a ‘kiss cam’ in an eyebrow-raising embrace with her boss is speaking out about the footage seen all over the world.

Kristin Cabot is opening up about the life-changing moment in an exclusive interview on ‘The Oprah Podcast’.

In a teaser for their discussion, Cabot, who was the Chief People Officer at Astronomer, reveals that her estranged husband, Andrew, was also at the July 2025 concert with their daughter.

Cabot was there with then-Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and a few others. He was married to Megan Kerrigan, but they were reportedly also separated at the time.

“I was walking into the concert, and my daughter messaged me and said, ‘It’s so great that you and Andrew are both at Coldplay,’” she told host Oprah Winfrey.

“So, she let me know that my estranged husband was also at the concert… But then I was like, ‘I’m in Gillette Stadium, there’s 55,000 people here, I’m probably not going to run into him’.”

The chances of bumping into her ex in a sea of 50, 000 plus people were low, but as fate would have it, the chances of her appearing on the concert’s ‘kiss cam’ were higher.

However, Cabot wasn’t too fazed about possibly bumping into her ex-husband.

“He knows how closely Andy and I worked together, he knows we socialised — like, got lunches and got drinks. It was fine. He knows the nature of my work and … the relationships — I’ve shared desks with the CEOs I’ve worked with. Like, it’s just a very close relationship. And so it didn’t matter.”

Regardless, we can only imagine what was running through his head when Cabot appeared on the ‘kiss cam’ with her CEO’s arms wrapped around her.

To everyone else at the concert, they had just witnessed a couple enjoying a date at Coldplay’s sold-out concert.

That was until the “couple” looked embarrassed and started ducking for cover.

“Uh-oh, what? Either they’re having an affair, or they are just very shy,” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked.

Coldplay ‘kiss cam’ aftermath

Within days, the clip was viewed over 100-million times on social media, with scores of people recreating the infamous moment.

It would go on to become one of the most-watched videos of 2025.

Both Cabot and Byron resigned from their positions, while Astronomer decided to embrace the drama by putting out a cheeky ad with their ‘temporary spokesperson’ actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

Adding to the twist, Paltrow was married to Martin until their "conscious uncoupling" in 2014.

“We've been thrilled that so many people have a newfound interest in data automation. As for the other questions we've received — yes! There's still room available at our Beyond Analytics event in September,” she teased.

Cabot admitted in a December 2025 interview with The New York Times that she had a crush on her boss, but insists the relationship was not sexual and they had only kissed for the first time that night.

She said they simply got “very swept up in a moment”.

“I made a bad decision and had a couple of [alcoholic] High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss. And it’s not nothing. I took accountability, and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay."

Cabot was the most affected by the aftermath of #coldplaygate, with people calling her a “slut” and a “homewrecker” online and in public.

Byron and his wife are reportedly still together.

“The video became a phenomenon last summer, instantly going viral around the globe with more than 300 billion views. While it became the most-watched video of 2025, it also changed the course of Kristin Cabot’s life.

"The full interview is available starting Tuesday, March 17, on Oprah’s YouTube Channel and wherever podcasts are available," The Oprah Podcast' said.
