Olivia Rodrigo debuts 'Drop Dead': "I love this song so much"
The singer shot the music video for her new song at the Palace of Versailles in France.
The 'You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love' era has officially begun.
Olivia Rodrigo debuted her new song, 'Drop Dead', alongside a "visually stunning" music video on Friday, April 17.
"I love this song so much!" Rodrigo wrote on Instagram.
"It’s the first chapter in the story of ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’, and it makes me wanna skip around and roll the windows down and make out!"
The song's music video was shot at the Palace of Versailles in France.
"I was lucky enough to film the music video at the palace of Versailles a few months ago with the wonderful @petrafcollins and I’m so stoked with how it turned out. I hope you guys love it as much as I do," the 23-year-old said.
Petra Collins has worked with Rodrigo on several other projects, including 'Vampire' and 'good 4 u'. She has also directed music videos for Cardi B, Selena Gomez and Carly Rae Jepsen.
"The video follows Rodrigo as she runs through the palace’s opulent halls, capturing the manic exuberance of a budding new romance," a statement read.
The singer's fans are already speculating about who the song is about, with ex-boyfriend, British actor Louis Partridge, at the top of the list.
"Oh, one night I was bored in bed/ And stalked you on the internet/ It's feminine intuition/ 'Cause I always had a vision of us standing like this/ All pressed up in the bathroom line/ You lookin' like an angel on the walls of Versailles/ The most alive I've ever been/ But kiss me and I might drop dead," she sings.
Rodrigo has not revealed who the song is about, but she told Vogue that 'Drop Dead' is about "having premonitions of her relationships".
"I’m very stubborn and if I like someone, I’m like, 'Yo, this is going to happen. This is rare! Let’s do it.' The person that the song is about is great,” she said.
'Drop Dead' is the lead single on Rodrigo's new album, 'You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love'. Her third studio album will be released on June 12.
