Olivia Rodrigo reveals lead single from new album
The first song from Olivia Rodrigo's new album will be called 'Drop Dead'.
Singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo has announced that her new single, 'Drop Dead', will be released on Friday, April 17.
The 'Drivers License' hitmaker shared the news on social media this week.
'Drop Dead' is the first song Rodrigo will release from her new album, 'You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love'. Her third studio album will debut on June 12.
"She recorded the album with producer Daniel Nigro, who also collaborated with her on both SOUR, her chart-topping, 6x RIAA Platinum debut album and GUTS, her 3x RIAA Platinum sophomore album," a statement read.
Rodrigo says she is excited to show her fans what she has been working on in the studio.
"I am so proud of this record, and I can’t wait for you to hear it. Available for preorder now!" she wrote on Instagram.
Songs from her previous two albums, including 'Vampire', featured on the Top 40 with Danny Painter and several charts across the globe.
Her previous two albums reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Will she be able to make it three albums in a row?
Speaking to British Vogue about her upcoming project, Olivia says fans can expect many sad love songs.
"I realised all my favourite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them," she told the publication.
“It was a creative challenge to write from a joyful place. When you’re experiencing that you’re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you’re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!” she told the publication.
Rodrigo will promote her new song and album on the May 2nd episode of 'Saturday Night Live SNL)'. She is both the host and musical guest.
"Massive dream come true. See u soon, NYC," she said.
