One Direction star Louis Tomlinson announces new album
Updated | By Music Reporter
Louis Tomlinson has released a new single, 'Lemonade', ahead of his upcoming album.
Former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson has announced his new album, '‘How Did I Get Here?’, will be released on 23 January 2026.
He also plans to go on a world tour next year, visiting several countries, including America, Italy, Spain and France.
Tomlinson says he is "really excited" for everyone to hear the album.
"'How Did I Get Here?' is the title. It's actually a lyric in one of the songs. I did a lot of the recording and writing in Costa Rica - something I've always wanted to do, be able to just, kind of tap into somewhere really far away from home," he told BBC Radio 1.
"Yeah, just a really fun process. I've been excited for a long time. So, really excited about getting closer to that time.
'How Did I Get Here?' is Tomlinson's third solo studio album since One Direction's split in 2015.
Tomlinson and his bandmates - Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and the late Liam Payne - achieved worldwide success with songs such as 'What Makes You Beautiful', 'Best Song Ever' and 'Night Changes'.
He has also been successful as a solo artist. His previous album, 'Faith in the Future', debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart in 2022.
Tomlinson announced his new album and its release date on the same day he dropped his new single, 'Lemonade'.
"She got me wasted, the way she's making me lie/ Hung from her bracelet, her lucky charm if I like/ Symptoms of coming to life, no point in thinking it twice/ She got me wasted, the way I'm chasing the night," he sings.
The 33-year-old's fans think the song is a certified hit.
One person wrote on YouTube, "I already am totally obsessed with this. My jaw is on the floor. "
"This song is like fresh air," a second commented. A third wrote, "When life gives you lemons, Louis gives you lemonadeee."
They can't wait to hear the complete album. Tomlinson says 'How Did I Get Here?' is the record he always "deserved to make".
"My bread and butter is my honesty. I genuinely wear my heart on my sleeve, and I hope it comes through in the music. I’m still learning and getting better as a singer and a songwriter," he said in a statement, per Variety.
"I find it impossible to be complacent; it’s not in my vocabulary. For the first time now, I’m allowing myself to be the artist I’d always hoped to be."
