Rachel Kolisi reflects on "solo" Easter without children
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
The author and businesswoman is learning that being alone doesn’t have to mean being lonely.
Rachel Kolisi opens up about co-parenting during the Easter holidays. The 'Falling Forward' author has two children, Nicholas and Keziah, with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi.
South Africa's former golden couple announced their shocking divorce in 2024.
Rachel took to Instagram after the Easter long weekend to share a picture of herself home alone, enjoying a bowl of soup. "A solo and chicken soup Easter this year," she wrote.
"Not quite how I ever imagined it, being away from my kids and not feeling my best, but sometimes life slows you down in ways you don’t choose."
Rachel says there are lessons to be learned in those moments when you are left with yourself.
"I’m learning that being alone doesn’t have to mean being lonely. That there’s something steady and grounding about sitting in your own company, even when it’s uncomfortable," she said.
The Kolisi Foundation co-founder also uses the post to spread a message of hope to her 640, 000 followers.
"Easter is a reminder that even in the hardest, most uncertain moments, there is still hope. Still renewal. Still purpose in the waiting. And our good God sees and knows it ALL," she wrote.“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles… Isaiah 40:31. I hope those of you who celebrate had the most beautiful day!"
Meanwhile, Siya also gave his fans a snapshot of his Easter weekend.
The rugby star shared a picture of Nicholas and Keziah diving into a swimming pool. His younger siblings, Liyema and Liphelo, also spent the weekend with him.
Siya had a lot to be happy about this past weekend. The Kolisi Foundation celebrated its sixth birthday.
"Thank you to the people of South Africa for trusting the foundation, funding, and supporting the foundation. And also the people in the communities that we work with," he said in a video message.
"We are going to continue to strive to change people's lives and change communities everywhere we go."
