RAYE shows off her impressive vocals in 'Nightingale Lane'
'Nightingale Lane' is a song about the greatest heartbreak RAYE has ever known.
English singer RAYE is showcasing her powerhouse vocals in the latest song from her upcoming album.
Hot on the heels of her #1 hit single, 'Where is My Husband!', RAYE has released her next chart topper, 'Nightingale Lane'.
According to the lyrics, the track is about her "greatest heartbreak".
"On a street in the South London suburbs/ Where my first love kissed me goodbye/ His lips were thin and beer-stained and tear-stained/ Was a pain that made me colder now / After the oceans I cried, I'm made of steel/ Just floating now."
RAYE sings in the chorus: "Somebody loved me once/ And someday, somebody will again/ Like the way you loved me/ Take me back in your arms, oh, my love, just tonight/ On Nightingale Lane."
'Nightingale Lane' is the second single from the 28-year-old's sophomore album, 'This Music May Contain Hope'. The album will debut on Friday, March 27.
The project's full tracklist has not been released yet. "The sad feelings we wrestle with do make great songs," she said about writing music for the album in July last year.
"I think, and considering this seems to be a chapter in my life where I am swimming through some personal aches and pains, I’d say this album is now beginning to move swimmingly."
RAYE performed a live version of 'Nightingale Lane' with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios.
She also sang the song at the 2026 BRIT Awards.
"Just another video of me screaming into a mic, but this time at the BRITS. So grateful for all the beautiful musicians I share the stage with," RAYE captioned a clip of the performance.
