Robin Williams' daughter slams 'disgusting' AI videos of him
Zelda Williams has received an outpouring of support she begged people to stop sending her AI videos of her dad.
Zelda Williams has received support from Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter, Bernice King, after slamming "gross" AI videos of her father, Robin Williams.
Zelda pleaded with social media users to "just stop sending" her clips of the late actor.
"Stop believing I wanna see it or that I’ll understand, I don’t and I won’t. If you’re just trying to troll me, I’ve seen way worse. I’ll restrict and move on," she wrote on her Instagram Stories this week.
Robin died by suicide in August 2014. An autopsy of his brain revealed that he had Lewy body dementia. His family only learned about the diagnosis after his death.
The rise of AI in recent years has resulted in people making motivational videos and comedic skits using Robin's voice and likeness.
Zelda says it is not what her father would have wanted.
"To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that's enough', just so other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening," she wrote.
"You're not making art, you're making disgusting over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings."

Bernice, the daughter of civil rights activists Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King, agreed with Zelda's remarks.
“I concur concerning my father. Please stop," she wrote on X.
Social media users have also expressed concern about AI recreations of dead people.
"I’m so sorry you have to deal with your dad’s legacy being disrespected like that," one woman told Bernice.
Another wrote: "Zelda's right, AI videos of the dead cross a line."
AI is taking over the world and threatening numerous jobs, but Zelda does not think it is the future.
"And for the love of everything, stop calling it 'the future'. AI is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed."
