Sarah Ferguson has changed her social media following her ex-husband Prince Andrew's decision to stop using his Duke of York title.

Ferguson, who has been known as the Duchess of York since 1986, has also agreed to forfeit the title.

The 66-year-old previously used @SarahTheDuchess for her X handle. It has now been changed to @sarahMFergie15.

Her Instagram handle, @sarahferguson15, remains the same. While Fergie, as she is also known, did not use the title for her professional work, she was called the Duchess of York in some settings.

The former couple's children, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, will continue to use their titles, HRH Princess. They can also call themselves the York Sisters.

Prince Andrew is still technically the Duke of York, but he will no longer be addressed as such. He made the announcement last week after talks with his brother, King Charles.

"In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family," he wrote in a statement.

Prince Andrew and Ferguson's ties to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein are back in the spotlight. Earlier this month, The Sun published the contents of a 2011 email that allegedly proved that he lied about when he cut ties with Epstein.

"I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life," Prince Andrew's statement continued

"With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me."

Royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun that Prince Andrew's decision to drop his title "was becoming inevitable".

"The revelation Andrew had lied has clearly tipped the situation over the edge that made it difficult for the King to endure it any longer. There is nowhere to hide for Andrew, perhaps he might be better off starting a new life abroad as he clearly has no future in the UK."

Ferguson's alleged past emails to Epstein have also been scrutinised in the media. In them, she allegedly called Epstein a "steadfast, generous, and supreme friend."

Adding to Prince Andrew's woes is the release of Virginia Giuffre's posthumous book, 'Nobody's Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice'.

Giuffre died by suicide earlier this year. In her book, which was released on October 21, she claims that she took part in an orgy with Prince Andrew, Epstein and “eight other young girls”.

The prince's name is reportedly mentioned 88 times in the book.
