The singer recalls grabbing her partner, A$AP Rocky, and pushing him to the floor after hearing gunshots.
New details have been revealed about the shocking shooting that took place at Rihanna's Los Angeles mansion in March.
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz is accused of opening fire on the singer's home with an AR-15-style rifle before driving off. Police arrested her on the same day.
Rihanna was at home with her three children, RZA, Riot, and Rocki. Her mother, Monica Braithwaite, as well as a nanny and housekeeper, were also there.
The 'Pon de Replay' singer and her partner, A$AP Rocky, were inside an Airstream trailer that was reportedly parked in the driveway.
In court documents seen by The New York Times, Rihanna told police she heard about 10 loud bangs.
She opened the curtains of the metal trailer and noticed bullet holes in the windshield. Rihanna pushed the rapper, who was sleeping in a bed inside the trailer, to the floor.
"They shooting at us," she told him.
Police say the suspect fired at least 20 shots, which also struck a neighbour's home. No one was injured.
Ortiz is now facing life in prison for charges, including attempted murder.
The motive for the shooting is unclear, but the 35-year-old woman made bizarre videos and posts about Rihanna prior to the incident, per TMZ.
"She looks really stupid and corny, and everyone knows it," Ortiz said in one video.
"The way that Rihanna wants to kill me, she's the one who wants to kill me...Listen, Rihanna, when you die, God is taking me to my future."
Following her arrest, Ortiz made a brief comment to the police.
"Can I say one sentence? I would like to say that I wasn’t attempting murder."
This week, a judge declined a request to send Ortiz, who is a speech pathologist, for an additional mental health competency hearing.
Her lawyers told the judge that she may be mentally unfit to stand trial.
According to the Los Angeles Times, a judge ordered that criminal proceedings go ahead after determining that there was no substantial evidence that she was mentally incompetent.
She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
