Excitement for the new 'Devil Wears Prada' movie is building as the release date approaches, but fans hoping to see Sydney Sweeney will be sorely disappointed.
The star's cameo has reportedly been cut from the movie due to a "creative decision".
'The Devil Wears Prada 2' is set to open in cinemas on Friday, May 1, twenty years after the first film made its debut.
Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci will reprise their roles, with 'Bridgerton' star Simone Ashley joining the cast.
Lady Gaga, Donatella Versace, Ciara and Ashley Graham are among the stars making cameos in the movie.
In August 2025, Sweeney was spotted on set, sparking excitement and speculation online about the role she would be playing.
Paparazzi snaps from the set surfaced a few days after President Donald Trump praised the star's controversial American Eagle jeans ad.
Sweeney's role was never officially confirmed, but she reportedly played herself in the scene.
This week, several publications revealed that the scene was cut during editing and will not appear in the final version.
According to Entertainment Weekly, she was supposed to appear in a three-minute scene at the beginning of the film.
However, "the scene did not work structurally with the rest of the sequence", and it was edited out.
Social media users believe Sweeney got the cut because she has become somewhat of a controversial figure.
Just last week, she made headlines after 'Euphoria' fans slammed a "vulgar" teaser clip showing her character dressed as a baby while recording risqué footage for her OnlyFans page.
"Before Euphoria Sydney Sweeney was doing decent roles but after Euphoria all she does are nude scenes and s*x scenes. Unreal downfall," one social media user said.
Sweeney was also slammed following the launch of her new lingerie line, Syrn, earlier this year. Her character, Cassie, wears some of the pieces in the new season of 'Euphoria'.
"Even worse than those idiot Kardashians," an X user commented.
Sweeney, who has 26 million followers on Instagram, is unfazed by the hate and drama surrounding her brand.
Her new American Eagle advert dropped this week, and she is proudly leaning into her sexy image while laughing all the way to the bank.
