In just three days, Taylor Swift's new album, 'The Life of a Showgirl', has broken several music records.

The album, which was released on October 3, is already the best-selling album of 2025. It earned a whopping 2.7 million traditional album sales on its first day alone.

To put that into perspective, Cardi B's 'Am I the Drama?' debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 (October 4) with just 200,000 album equivalent units in its first week.

The vinyl variants of the album also set a new record for most copies sold in a single week (over 1.2 million).

It is also Spotify's most-streamed album in a single day in 2025 so far.

The album's lead single, 'The Fate of Ophelia,' smashed Spotify's record for most-streamed song in a single day.

'The Life of a Showgirl' continued its record-breaking streak on Apple Music and Amazon Music.

  • Biggest album of 2025 by first-day streams worldwide on Apple Music
  • Biggest song of 2025 by first-day streams worldwide on Apple Music, 'The Fate of Ophelia'
  • Most-streamed album of 2025 in its first day on Amazon Music globally

The music video for 'The Fate of Ophelia' also helped Swift make history at he box office.

It was shown exclusively at cinemas over the weekend as part of the 35-year-old's worldwide release parties.

'The Official Release Party of a Showgirl' limited-release event scored the #1 at the US box office with $33 million in sales.

The music video, which Swift directed herself, debuted on YouTube on Monday.

She described the video as "a journey through the chaotic world of show business".

"Writing, rehearsing, directing and shooting the music video for 'The Fate of Ophelia' was the thrill of a lifetime because I got to be reunited with my Eras Tour family!" she wrote on Instagram.

"I wanted each one-take scene to feel like a live performance and remind us all of how it felt to be at those shows together. Making every moment count."

Several songs from the album are expected to debut on the Billboard Hot 100, including 'Actually Romantic', which is allegedly about Charli XCX, 'Opalite' and 'Wish List', which appear to be about Travis Kelce

It's Taylor Swift's world, and we're just living in it.
