Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae and Mariah Carey were winners on and off the stage at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

Their performances on Sunday night had social media users talking.

Alex Warren, J Balvin, DJ Snake, Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Busta Rhymes, Ricky Martin and Gunna also had standout moments, but the night belonged to the women.

Here's a look at some of the top performances at the VMAs.

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey was the star of the show at the 2025 MTV VMAs. The singer-songwriter performed a medley of her biggest hits to celebrate her Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

She sang 'Sweet Fantasy', 'Honey', 'Heartbreaker', 'Obsessed', 'It's Like That', and 'We Belong Together'.

Carey also performed her latest songs, 'Sugar Sweet' and 'Type Dangerous'. Both songs feature on her upcoming sixteenth studio album, 'Here For It All'.

Doja Cat

Before Carey's iconic performance, Doja Cat opened the 2025 MTV VMAs with some help from Kenny G. His sax intro set the tone for her 80s-themed performance.

Doja Cat performed her new single, 'Jealous Type'. The track is the lead single from her album, 'Vie', which is due for release on September 26.

"Just when this song couldn't be any more 80-90s core, she brings out Kenny G to intro her. I love her artistry," a YouTuber commented.

Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter also performed her latest single, 'Tears'.

The song appears on her new album, 'Man's Best Friend', which just debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.

"A little initiative can go a very long, long way/ Baby, just do the dishes, I'll give you what you (what you), what you want/ A little communication, yes, that's my ideal foreplay/ Assemble a chair from IKEA, I'm like, Uhhh," she sings.

Carpenter was also one of the night's winners. She won 'Best Album' for 2024's 'Short n' Sweet'.

"This is my second Moonman, which feels so crazy. I really don't take for granted when you guys take the time out of your lives to listen to an album, and if I'm lucky enough that that is my album, I am so grateful - whether that be 'Short n' Sweet', this album, or 'Man's Best Friend', my new album," she said.

Tate McRae

Tate McRae performed 'Sporys Car' and 'Revolving Door' at the VMAs while surrounded by several male dancers wearing just their underwear.

"My mouth was open the whole time and I aint even exaggerating," one person commented on YouTube

McRae also went home with a Moonman for 'Song of the Summer'.

She received the honour for her 'Just Keep Watching', which she recorded for the 'F1' movie.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga had a lot to celebrate. She won four awards, including 'Artist of the Year', and had one of the best performances at the ceremony.

She performed 'Abracadabra' and 'The Dead Dance' from Netflix's 'Wednesday' series. Gaga's performance was pre-recorded during her 'Mayhem Ball Tour' concert at Madison Square Garden, New York, on Saturday.

The show featured a giant cage filled with dancers, covered by a huge red dress.

The 39-year-old pre-recorded the show as the VMAs were taking place at the same time as her next concert on Sunday night.

She attended the VMAs but had to rush back to Madison Square Garden.

"Lady Gaga could sing the WiFi password and I’d still cry," one fan said.
