The 35-year-old woman arrested in connection with a shooting that took place outside of Rihanna's house has been charged with attempted murder.

If convicted, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz faces life in prison. She is currently being held on $10.225 million bail.

According to People magazine, Ortiz is facing 14 felony counts following Sunday's shocking shooting incident. The charges include assault with a semiautomatic firearm and shooting at an inhabited dwelling.

Ortiz is accused of driving to the singer's Beverly Hills mansion in Los Angeles and opening fire before allegedly fleeing the scene in a white Tesla.

A 911 caller described hearing "approximately 10 shots". The suspect was described as a blonde woman.

Rihanna was reportedly inside the home at the time of the shooting. It has since been confirmed that her partner, A$AP Rocky, and their three children, RZA, Riot and Rocki, were also present.

Several pictures from the scene show bullet holes on the 'Life Me Up' hitmaker's home gate. No one was injured in the shooting.

TMZ has also released footage of the suspect discussing Rihanna, which was shared on YouTube in January.

"She looks really stupid and corny, and everyone knows it," she said in the video. "The way that Rihanna wants to kill me, she's the one who wants to kill me...Listen, Rihanna, when you die, God is taking me to my future."

Ortiz does not appear to know the Grammy winner personally.

A source told People that the incident was "terrifying" for Rihanna, but the 38-year-old is thankful that everyone in the home is safe.

"Even with a great security team in place, it’s scary to realise that something like this can still happen," the source told the publication.

"Rihanna heard the shots, but was initially confused about what happened. She doesn’t understand why someone would target her family."

A separate report claims that Rihanna and her family flew out of Los Angeles on Monday. Members of her staff were seen loading up several bags into vehicles before heading to Van Nuys Airport.
