Mbalula made the pledge during his visit at the Vereeniging church on Sunday morning.

"I want to leave you with a pledge, and for those who don't have R400 to go to Capitol to pay, I will give you R10 000 from my pocket to pay.

"It is important to me, because it is about the education you will get from that particular meeting you are going to get.

"I don't need anything from you, I don't need your vote. I want you to be loyal to your beliefs and what you stand for," he said.

Mbalula's pledge comes amid the debate around some senior ANC members giving potential voters money during its door-to-door campaigns.

The ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule came under fire from some quarters after he gave a woman in Phillipi R400 while campaigning in the area.

Magashule's actions prompted the Democratic Alliance (DA) to lay a complaint at the Independent Electoral Commission.

Mbalula also encouraged the youth to stay in church and to create a better future for themselves.

"I understand perfectly when you talk about the future. Because the future is not in the distant horizon, it's what you plough today.

"If you choose to be a drunkard or alchoholic, if you choose to be a drug addict or choose not to worship and out of the church, your future will be a future of someone who is nothing on the planet earth.

"But if you choose what you want to be like you are today as young people in the church, then your future is bright and bright and bright," he said.
