Reservoir levels in Midrand showed a slow increase in water levels on Wednesday, offering little relief to the many residents who continue to experience erratic supply.

Johannesburg Water has laid the blame on the rapid development in the area, saying it is placing significant strain on existing water infrastructure.

Residents, however, say this excuse holds little water.

Speaking to SABC News on Wednesday morning, JHB Water Electro-Mechanical Manager Gugulethu Quma said Midrand’s expanding population has intensified pressure on the system.

He provided an update on the suburb’s water supply status, noting that recovery remains gradual.

Despite these assurances, residents say they are being left to fend for themselves, struggling to access water for basic needs such as cooking, bathing, and drinking.

Jacaranda FM Newswatch visited Midrand to hear directly from residents about their experiences and frustrations.
