Updated | By Neo Motloung
Gauteng police commissioner Elias Mawela has lauded the arrests made during the province's O Kae Molao/Safer Festive Season anti-crime campaign.
Mawela was speaking at a roadblock in Ivory Park, east of Johannesburg on Thursday morning.
The commissioner said the operation has led to the arrests of more than 600 wanted suspects over the last 24 hours.
"From morning yesterday until now, we have arrested 110 perpetrators of gender-based violence," he said.
"We want to tell those who are continuing to abuse our women and children that they have no place to hide. Once the case is registered, we go all out to arrest those ones."
A suspect with a replica gun and live ammunition was also nabbed at the roadblock.
