16 Days Of Activism: Promoting a positive body image among the youth
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Afrika Tikkun is a South African NGO which runs a number of programmes for almost 20 000 children and young adults.

The programmes are based around three core programmes. The general manager of Afrika Tikkun, Jean Office, explains that the programmes are designed to build on skills acquired in the previous levels but it also offers specific educational- and developmental outcomes in its own right.
As such, participants can enter, exit, and re-enter the programmes at any point.
The organisation has managed to obtain broad-based funding. The Empowerment programme will be funded by the Human Dignity Foundation for the next three years. The Nelson Mandela Children's Foundation is funding Afrika Tikkun's anti-violence study clubs.
Office says Afrika Tikkun is also involved in the prevention of sexual abuse.
Office says during the 16 Days of Activism the organisation ran a campaign that began in October, where the 15 advocacy groups met with an artist to design a poster communicating their core values.
Posters designed by the different organisations will be exhibited at the Gavin Project Gallery at Arts on Main.
