21 pupils injured in Ekurhuleni learner transport crash
Twenty-one primary school learners were injured, four seriously, when a learner transport vehicle collided with a light motor vehicle on the M7 near Katlehong in Gauteng.
Twenty-one primary school learners were injured when a learner transport vehicle collided with a light motor vehicle on the M7 near Katlehong, Gauteng, this morning.
Emergency crews responded and treated all occupants at the scene before they were taken to nearby hospitals.
Ekurhuleni Emergency Management Services spokesperson William Ntladi says four learners sustained serious injuries but are in a stable condition.
He says two learners waiting for transport were also struck and injured.
“ A VW microbus, which supposedly is a 10-seater vehicle, had 20 occupants at the time, driver inclusive. M7 Road had to be temporarily closed to traffic for the duration of the rescue operation.
“The scene was handed over to the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Department.”
