The taxi operators blocked the N4 highway and other roads around the city using trucks.

Their dissatisfaction follows a series of fuel price hikes which saw the price reach R26 a litre for the first time.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala said the suspects are expected to appear before the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court on Thursday morning, where they will face charges of public violence.

Mohlala says calm has been restored in and around the CDB as police continue to monitor the situation.

N4 Toll Concession spokesperson Solange Soares Nicholson also confirmed that traffic is moving smoothly in both ways of the N4 highway.
