4 siblings taken in dramatic Polokwane abduction
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
Four siblings, aged between 6 and 15, were abducted by unknown men in Polokwane on Wednesday morning.
It's understood the boys were being driven to school when two cars intercepted them on the Tzaneen bypass.
The men opened fired before approaching the driver and the boys.
Westenburg station commander Maimele Pilusa says the boys were forced into a Mercedes Benz with no registration number, leaving the driver behind.
The boys' cellphones were later recovered in Flora Park.
"It's not known in which direction did those seven suspects take," says Pilusa.
"Another unconfirmed information is that from Flora Park, they took those children in the black Mercedes Benz into a silver Fortuner, also with an unknow registration number."
Pilusa adds the motive remains unknown.
"The parents are not yet contacted by anybody for anything, ransom or anything, therefore the motive is unknown."
Law enforcement are still searching for leads, with police questioning the driver.
"He's very safe with his vehicle. The police are still talking to him, he's still at the police station for more information."
