Mkhize announced during an online press briefing that the country has 3,034 confirmed cases, which is a jump of 251 from the 2,783 announced on Friday evening.

There are also two more Covid-19 related deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities to 52.

"From the total number of infections about 80% of the people tend to be mild cases or asymptomatic, so they don't need much attention.

"In the process, you'll end up many of them needing to be treated at home or not needing to be treated at all.

"But at the moment we've got 241 people countrywide who are admitted. One hundred and sixty two of these are admitted to private hospitals. Seventy nine are in public hospitals.”

Thirty six patients are in ICU and 23 of those patients are on ventilators.

"Of those, we would say there are 137 who are in isolation,” said Mkhize.

“Those who are in ICU they are 36 and out of those we've got about 23 who in ventilators but every day the number changes.”
