ACSA assures of stable jet fuel supply

Jet fuel supply at OR Tambo International Airport has dwindled, but it's stable.

That's according to the Airports Company South Africa.

CEO Mpumi Mpofu has been addressing concerns of a shortage at the country's biggest airport after rail infrastructure in KZN was damaged in last month's floods.

"The issue at play is the mismatch between supply and demand. This is what the forum agreed to remedy through setting up an operations room that would meet weekly until the rail line between KwaZulu-Natal and OR Tambo International Airport is fixed."

Mpofu says there are interventions to make sure no flights are cancelled.

"The tankering i.e fuel stops and to eliminate need for technical stops which are costly and to ensure adequate fuel availability for all airlines at all times."
