AfriForum: Engels did not attack Mugabe with a knife
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
Civil Rights organisation, AfriForum says Zimbabwe's first lady, Grace Mugabe is trying to portray South African model, Gabriella Engels as a perpetrator.
Mugabe is reported to have denied allegations that she assaulted Engels with an extension cord at a Sandton hotel.
Reuters has reportedly seen Mugabe's statement in which she claims Engels was intoxicated and attacked her with a knife.
"We have not seen the statement by Grace Mugabe herself. But from what we know, she is lying and this is a clear strategy by Mugabe to try and evade responsibility for her own violent behaviour," says AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel.

Kriel says Engels was brutally attacked for no reason.
"We reject the lies that Grace Mugabe is spreading at the moment," he says.
He says the Engels family is doing well.
"There is somebody who has offered Gabriella a bursary to study cosmetics and beauty sciences which will help her in her path going forward and we are happy about that," says Kriel.
The organisation will be in court on the 19th of September to get permission to revoke Mugabe's diplomatic immunity.
