AfriForum to oppose Zuma appeal application
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Lobby group AfriForum will oppose former president Jacob Zuma’s application in the High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday.
The decision comes after Zuma’s legal team confirmed that it would be appealing the High Court decision to set aside the decision. by former correctional services commissioner Arthur Fraser to place him on medical parole.
AfriForum’s Ernst Roets says they will present reasons why Zuma’s application is a waste of time.
“Zuma’s legal team will on the same day appear in court to argue why they want to appeal against the verdict. AfriForum’s legal team is of the opinion that Zuma’s appeal application does not have any reasonable chance to succeed.”

Since the High Court made the ruling that could see Zuma serve the remainder of his sentence behind bars, the government's security cluster has been on high alert amid threats of violence and civil unrest similar to that seen in July.
In July, supporters behind the guise of #FreeJacobZuma took to the streets demanding his release.
Key national roads were blocked while infrastructure was destroyed and looted.
The violence claimed the lives of over 300 people across the country.
