MANDELA'S GRANDSON IN COURT - Gauteng Police have confirmed that a grandson of former President Nelson Mandela, 24-year old Mbuso Mandela, today appeared in the Johannesburg regional court on a charge of rape


As the police's Mashadi Selepe confirms, he allegedly raped a 15-year old girl at a popular restaurant in Greenside whose dad laid the charge on Friday, a week after she was apparently raped at a popular restaurant in Greenside...


 


ANC NATIONAL GENERAL COUNCIL - Unemployment, inequality and poverty will form the triple challenge that the ANC National General Council aims to address, while focussing on the South African economy, at its conference in October. 


The ANC has released the discussion documents for the conference that will be a platform for critical political engagement among 3000 participants, ranging from government, state owned enterprises and business.

OSCAR PISTORIUS - The State has officially filed its appeal against the conviction of Oscar Pistorius. The State is asking the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein to change Pistorius conviction on a charge of culpable homicide to that of murder. 


It comes in the week that Pistorius is scheduled to be released under correctional supervision.

BANGKOK BLAST - Emergency teams and bomb squad members are on the scene at a popular Hindu Temple in Bangkok, Thailand that was earlier today rocked by a powerful bomb explosion


Fears are that another bomb might still be active and needs to be defused. According to international reports, the death toll has risen above 20. Foreigners are said to be among the casualties.
