Alex mother, baby found dead
The bodies of a 38-year-old woman and her baby were found in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg, on Friday.
Members of the woman’s family found the bodies and alerted local authorities.
It’s believed the woman committed suicide.
Investigations into the death of the baby are currently underway as the infant was found with no visible injuries.
Gauteng police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters says an inquest docket has been opened.
“In an apparent suicide, the body of the woman was found hanging from rafters while that of the child was found dead with no visible injuries.”
“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death of the baby.”
