Police have arrested a 26-year-old man wanted for two murder cases reported in the Nkandla and Melmoth area, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Sunday.
The man was arrested in an intelligence-driven operation by UThungulu crime intelligence and Nkandla detectives in the Empangeni CBD on Friday, Mayor Thulani Zwane said.
“The members were following up information about their wanted suspect who was wanted for murder, attempted murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms,” he said.
The suspect was traced to the Empangeni area and when he was arrested he was allegedly found in possession of two unlicensed 9mm pistols and 31 rounds of ammunition.
The arrested man would appear in the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Zwane said.
