Alliance partners welcome ANC decision on Zuma

Members of the tripartite alliance have welcomed the decision by the African National Congress' (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) to recall President Jacob Zuma.
The ANC's secretary general, Ace Magashule, made the announcement at a media briefing at Luthuli House on Tuesday afternoon.
Trade union federation Cosatu says they expect President Zuma to heed the call by the NEC.
Spokesperson Sizwe Pamla says should the president not listen, the ANC should support the motion of no confidence tabled by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
"Allowing this gruesome posturing by President Jacob Zuma to continue unabated, risks plunging the country into an economic and political crisis. Cosatu also urges the ANC to explore the possibility of charging President Zuma and subjecting him to a disciplinary process for defying a constitutional structure of the ANC and bringing the organisation into disrepute.
"If he fails to resign we expect to be subjected to disciplinary processes by the ANC, because it is clear that a member of the ANC he is not about the ANC."

The South African Communist Party (SACP) says President Zuma's removal will allow the country to rid itself of state capture and other forms of corruption.
"Priority must be placed on radically reducing, and eventually eliminating high levels of class, race and gender inequalities and uneven development between urban and rural areas, unemployment, poverty and social insecurity," says SACP spokesperson Alex Mashilo concluded.
Meanwhile, South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) leader Zwelinzima Vavi wants president Zuma to resign tonight and not to wait until tomorrow to respond.

Vavi says Zuma's term was nothing less than a disaster.
"His term of office has been a disaster for the country and particularly for the working class and the poor majority. He has presided over the plundering of public resources through outrageous level of corruption, fraud and money-laundering. He has brought state-owned enterprises to the brink of insolvency, and reduced the economy to 'junk' status.
Vavi also called on ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa to appoint a prosecutions boss willing to prosecute President Zuma.
"If found guilty, they must be punished severely. There must be absolutely no question of any amnesty, pardon or plea bargain for the man who is not only allegedly personally implicated in criminal acts but who presided over others involved and appointed leaders of the law enforcement bodies to protect them and himself from prosecution."
