ANC Chief Whip to vote along party lines
Updated | By Suné du Toit
African National Congress (ANC) Chief Whip, Jackson Mthembu, says he and fellow ANC MPs will not vote against President Jacob Zuma in a motion of no confidence.

"I will vote in accordance with the standing decisions and principles of the African National Congress. I will not vote with any dictates of any other party," says Mthembu.
Participating in a debate on Parliament's budget, he says he is guided by his political conscience.

"I'm here as a deployee of the ANC," says Mthembu.
Mthembu has also hit out at opposition parties who expect ANC MPs to turn their backs on their president and their party.
"Why must we turn our party political system on its head by expecting ANC members of parliament to vote its president out of office and in so doing vote its own government out of office?" asks Mthembu.
