ANC confirms probe into establishment of smaller parties

The
African National Congress (ANC) on Wednesday confirmed that its national
working committee has set up an ad hoc committee to determine whether any of
the party’s members were involved in the establishment of other political
parties.
The establishment of the committee comes amid reports that ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule had a hand in the establishment of the African Transformation Movement (ATM).
“The ad hoc committee will be led by ANC stalwarts Kgalema Motlanthe and Frene Ginwala and assisted by Advocate Fezeka Magano,” the governing party said in a statement.”
“The terms of reference for the committee have been finalised. It is our hope that the committee will complete its work within the next sixty days.”
Political commentator Theo Venter earlier told Jacaranda FM News that the ANC is experiencing a post-election clean-up and all eyes will be on Ramaphosa as he prepares for his next State of the Nation (SONA) address next week.
"I think everything boils down to the SONA next week," said Venter. "Everyone expects more action, more specific action, more direction in terms of corruption...which may then, again, do what we saw over the last week: get him in conflict with some factions in the ANC."
