ANC heads to ConCourt in R100m election banners dispute
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The ANC says it will approach the Constitutional Court to appeal the decision of the Supreme Court of Appeal in its R102m election banner dispute with KwaZulu-Natal-based Ezulweni Investments.
Last week, the SCA ruled in favour of Ezulweni Investments, which supplied the ANC with campaign material for the 2019 elections.
The party was ordered to pay over R100 million for the election banners.
The company had also applied to have ANC assets seized after the party refused to pay despite a court order.
ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri says the Supreme Court of Appeal did not consider new evidence contained in a forensic report.
"Having studied the judgement, the ANC is of the view that SCA did not consider new evidence which has emerged from a forensic report, which reveals crucial evidence that makes it plain that there was no authorisation for the transactions in question, and certain implicated individuals mispresented their positions and authority."
