ANC to hold first NEC lekgotla
Updated | By MornéJK
The ANC will kick-off its first National Executive Committee lekgotla today where various issues around President Jacob Zuma's January 8th Statement will be discussed.
According to ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa the lekgotla will run until Saturday.
"Following the successful January 8th Statement, our planning meeting kicks-off in Irene, Pretoria, today," Kodwa says.
Kodwa adds that some tough issues will be discussed during the sessions.
"The road map for this year is going to be very eventful. We are preparing for the policy conference, mid-year, which will review the policies of the last national conference and make recommendations for our conference in December," Kodwa says.

He also says that they are focussed on building unity within the ANC and that it is premature for the succession debate to take place.
"It is too early. That process has not started within the organisation," Kodwa says.
One of the issues that will dominate the discussions this week is the redistribution of wealth and land.
"Those issues will dominate the discussions because radical economic transformation means that we give back land to our people if we want to change the lives of ordinary people," Kodwa says.
