ANC integrity commission wants members implicated in VBS scandal to step aside
Updated | By Marius van der Walt
The African National Congress (ANC) integrity commission met at the weekend to discuss action against officials implicated in the VBS Mutual Bank scandal.

The commission released a statement on Monday following its meeting at the weekend.
The commission has recommended that party leaders implicated in the VBS scandal step aside from leadership positions and activities.
Limpopo treasurer general Danny Msiza and executive mayor of Vhembe Florence Radzilani have been implicated in the scandal, which saw almost R2 billion looted from the bank.
The commission's George Mashamba says Msiza and Radzilani were advised by secretary-general Ace Magashule to approach the commission, but failed to do so.
"Having considered the matter, the National Integrity Commission is of the view that the reputation and credibility of the African National Congress has been seriously damaged," Mashamba says. "To protect the integrity and reputation of the ANC,
the National Integrity Commission recommends to the National Executive Committee that these members should be directed to step aside from all leadership positions and all activities of the ANC."
It's now up to the NEC to decide on the way forward.
