The African National Congress (ANC) on Thursday wished South Africans a peaceful and joyous festive season.
“We extend our well wishes to all compatriots for a prosperous New Year. The year 2015 was a year of increased and patriotic activism that saw the Freedom Charter occupying the public discourse and engagement,” said spokesman Zizi Kodwa.
The Freedom Charter is a set of “freedom demands” adopted in 1955 by organisations opposed to apartheid, which included the ANC and its allies.
“As we prepare to enter a new year, let us do so with more determination to take our country forward, characterised by deeper unity and common purpose of building a new nation.
Let us join hands to deepen democracy in our country, our region and the continent.
