ANC expects GNU talks to conclude before Ramaphosa inauguration

The ANC on Monday said it is confident that the discussions on the formation of a national unity government will be concluded before President-elect Cyril Ramaphosa's inauguration.

Ramaphosa will be inaugurated at the Union Buildings on Wednesday.
He was elected for a second term as president during the first sitting of the National Assembly on Friday.
Ramaphosa will lead what the party calls a government of national unity after the May 29 general election produced no outright winner.
The new government will include the DA and IFP, as well as other parties.
“We are comfortable that the level and the speed with which these cordial engagements have been taking place will result in a final stage, come the inauguration and days after the inauguration. Remember that the president still has the power to appoint whoever he appoints into various portfolios in government," said the ANC's spokesperson, Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri.
Responding to MK Party leader Jacob Zuma's plans to approach international courts over the alleged rigging of the elections, Bhengu-Motsiri told Jacaranda FM News that the former ANC leader is being disingenuous.
Zuma told the media on Sunday that his MK party will approach an international court over the alleged rigging of last month’s elections.
The party’s decision comes after its bid to have the results of the elections declared invalid failed in the Electoral Court.
"He is within his rights to do so, but we believe that this is totally disingenuous and unacceptable in our democracy when various international observers have declared South Africa's general elections as free and fair,” said Bhengu-Motsiri.
"We do not know on what basis he is going on.”
