ANCYL president Collen Maine resigns as MEC
Updated | By ANA
North West Local Government and Human Settlements MEC Collen Maine has resigned, premier Supra Mahumapelo said on Tuesday.

Mahumapelo said Maine resigned following his election as the president of the ANC Youth League, and that his letter of voluntary exit from the government system has been accepted.
Maine was elected uncontested as the new ANC Youth League president during the league’s national conference in Midrand in September.
“We have therefore appointed MEC Wendy Nelson who is responsible for the department of Finance, Economy and Enterprise Development to act as the MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements until further notice,” said Mahumapelo.
“The decision to appoint MEC Nelson is based on the firm understanding that she has a major role to play in managing intervention measures for municipal finance systems; the work she has been performing well together with the outgoing MEC Maine.”
He said resignation of Maine and the appointment of Nelson on an acting basis did not imply that a provincial cabinet reshuffle was on the cards.
