Angry commuters take out frustration on Metrorail staff’s cars
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Angry commuters destroyed the personal property of Metrorail employees in Naledi, Soweto on Friday.
The commuters went on the rampage after the train services in the area were disrupted during the morning rush hour.
Metrorail spokesperson Lillian Mofokeng says the disruption in services were caused by the theft of overhead cables.
"As a result, we had commuters that stormed into our depot at Naledi and vandalised about 15 personal cars of our train staff and the access gates to the Naledi station," says Mofokeng.
Metrorail says due to the incident Naledi train services have been suspended until Sunday to allow staff to recover from the trauma.
