Residents in Ga-Rankuwa, north-west of Pretoria, have embarked on protest action against service delivery in the area.
Community members announced on Sunday that they would be staging a wide-spread shutdown in the area due to their dissatisfaction about their living conditions.

A group of protestors begun burning tyres and blockading roads in the area early on Monday morning, demanding Tshwane officials address them.
Community member, Lebogang Molekwa, says the protest is void of any political affiliations.
"We would like to re-iterate that this protest is by the community of Ga-Rankuwa, it is not a political protest and it's not led by the ANC, it's not led by the DA or any party that has been represented on the ballot."
"We are fed up with the living conditions, so we are intending it to be a very peaceful protest, a non-violent protest, a non-looting protest, it's not about foreign nationals," says Molekwa.
Molekwa adds that streets in the area have started flooding due to heavy rains and poor drainage systems.
