Another postponement for Zandile Gumede corruption case
The corruption case against former eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede has been postponed to December.
Gumede and her 16 co-accused face corruption charges linked to tender fraud totalling more than R400 million.
The state requested the postponement on Thursday.
Regional spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Natasha Kara says further investigations are underway.
“The matter appeared today at the Durban Specialised Commercial Crimes Court and the matter was postponed to the 10th of December.
“This is for the state to complete its forensic report.”

The three officers linked to the murder of the 16-year-old all made their second court appearance on Thursday. Julies, who was living with Down Syndrome, was killed just meters away from his home last month. Three police officers have been charged with his murder, defeating the ends of justice, possession of illegal ammunition and discharging firearm in public.
Speaking to her supporters outside the court, Gumede maintained her innocence.
“One day, this one is arrested, the next day it's another but no one has been proven guilty,” Gumede said.
“Even the other lawyers have joined us, they realised it’s been a year and 5 months with no charges, and they joined us.”
The former mayor was recently sworn in as a member of the KwaZulu-Natal legislature, despite the pending corruption case.
A public outcry led to the provincial executive committee of the African National Congress (ANC) in KZN making a U-turn a week later. It decided that those members facing criminal charges must step aside from their positions at party and government level and appear before the ANC integrity commission.
