Another taxi driver nabbed for contravening lockdown regulations

Another Gauteng taxi driver has been arrested for contravening the country’s lockdown regulations.
The 31-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for transporting 13 people in a 15-seater minibus.

During the lockdown period, taxi drivers are supposed to reduce the number of passengers to 70% of the licensed capacity.
Gauteng Traffic Police spokesperson Obed Sibasa says the taxi driver was also operating the vehicle outside of the prescribed window period.
“A 31-year-old man was arrested for driving without a driver’s license, driving an unlicensed motor vehicle, driving a taxi without a professional permit, driving a motor vehicle without a permit for the motor vehicle for himself to be on the road or outside and operating in the lockdown period.
“He was processed for contravening the National Disaster Management Act regulations and will appear in court soon.”
