GDE appoints independent body to probe Alberton pupil's death
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The Gauteng Department of Education is finalising the process of appointing an independent law firm to probe the death of a Grade 3 pupil from Alberview Primary School in Alberton.
It is alleged that the boy died in the hospital earlier this month after sustaining an injury on the school field.
The independent investigation will probe circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
"Our Psycho-Social Support Unit was deployed to the school to provide necessary support for all who were affected by the incident,"Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona said.
"The family and all stakeholders will be engaged once the GDE has the independent investigative law firm onboard for necessary introductions and outlining of terms of reference accordingly."
