Ashwin Willemse heading to Equality Court
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
The former Springbok winger will approach the Equality Court after SuperSport found that racism played no part in his studio walk-out in May.
Willemse will ask the Equality Court to probe the events leading up to the incident.
SuperSport found that there was no racism involved after he accused fellow analysts Nick Mallet and Naas Botha of undermining him.
The broadcaster released an independent report on Tuesday, conducted by Advocate Vincent Maleka, which found that it was “not naked racism and was not motivated by racist considerations”.
Willemse did not participate in the inquiry.

According to his lawyer, Nqobizitha Mlilo, the probe into the incident was a “fruitless exercise” as it was procedurally and legally flawed.
Mlilo explains that SuperSport had no legal standing to conduct such an inquiry, and the manner in which it was conducted was one-sided.
“We believe the whole incident is rooted in racism. We are at an advanced stage with preparing those documents, and we will be approaching the Equality Court.”
SuperSport confirmed that Mallet and Botha will return to the small screen in the near future.
They declined to comment on the latest developments, referring Jacaranda FM to comments made at its press briefing on Tuesday.
