Attempted hijacking at Pretoria High School Old Boys Club ends in fatal shooting
One person died on Sunday morning after a shooting incident that occurred at the premises of the Pretoria High School Old Boys Club in Lynnwood, Pretoria.
The incident happened after an attempted hijacking.
The Pretoria High School Old Boys Club is not on the same premises as Pretoria Boys High School.
Police say in a statement the owner of a vehicle was with his family when he saw the hijackers inside his car.
One of the suspects point a firearm at him, and the owner then withdrew his firearm and fired it.
This resulted in the death of the suspect, whilst a second one was injured.
Police were notified and attended to the scene.
"The third male was apprehended by the community while the fourth one ran away on foot," says Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo
Police found a car breaking implement and car jammer from the vehicle used by the four males.
The Club says normal operations will continue while they cooperate with a police investigation.
The Club's management has assured the community that they are committed to maintaining a safe environment.
