Attempted hit-and-run driver's alcohol levels tested
Updated | By Laila Majiet & Sibahle Motha
A motorist captured on camera attempting to flee an accident scene has not been arrested.
The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) says the driver's alcohol levels were tested on the spot.
TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says: "He was tested on the scene, but the results came back negative."
In video footage, exclusively obtained by Jacaranda FM News, the motorist is seen swerving across lanes on the highway on Tuesday.
He crashes into a bakkie on the N1 north near the Old Johannesburg Road and then attempts to flee the scene, but is quickly cornered by fellow motorists.
A witness, who also captured the accident on video, says he noticed the motorist's erratic driving in Sandton already.
