The National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) raided the Gupta's Saxonwold compound in Johannesburg on Monday afternoon.

This comes after the unit obtained a restraint order at the Bloemfontein High Court on 11 April 2017.

The NPA's Luvuyo Mfaku says the order relates to the controversial Vrede Dairy Project in the Free State.

The NPA says the raid at the Gupta compound is led by the curator, investigators from the AFU and the Hawks.

"The purpose of the raid is to compile an inventory of all the assets and value them."
