Ayanda Allie joins ActionSA after BOSA expulsion
ActionSA has announced Ayanda Allie as the party's new Gauteng elections campaign ambassador and issue driver.
This comes just days after Build One South Africa (BOSA) confirmed it was parting ways with their sole representative in the Gauteng legislature.
Party leader Herman Mashaba announced at a press briefing in Sandton on Friday.
It emerged at the weekend that BOSA and Allie locked horns over her alleged failure to honour an agreement to tithe 10% of her salary every month, leading to a disciplinary process that ended in her dismissal.
The former media personality and communicator will oversee ActionSA's local government election campaign across all of Gauteng's regions, including Johannesburg, where party leader Herman Mashaba is seeking a comeback as mayor.
She pledged her commitment to her new political home.
“This is a new season, it is a new chapter, and a new day. It matters not how I found myself in this room today. What matters is that I’m here, in full force and completely, wholeheartedly sold out to the mission of ActionSA.”
In a statement she published earlier this week, Allie responded to media reports, confirming that during the disciplinary process against her, she admitted to withholding the 10% of her salary she had initially agreed to tithe each month.
This, she said, was after the party refused to fund her travel and accommodation for constituency work, leading her to pay out of her own pocket.
Allie said that despite several mediation attempts, it was clear relations had irreparably broken down.
GAUTENG MAYORAL CANDIDATES
ActionSA’s mayoral candidates in the province’s metros are party President Herman Mashaba in the City of Johannesburg, and Dr Nasiphi Moya, who took over the mayoral chains in Tshwane from the Democratic Alliance’s Cilliers Brink through Tshwane through a coalition agreement with the African National Congress, Economic Freedom Fighters, and other smaller parties.
In Ekurhuleni, the green machine has fielded controversial anti-drugs media personality Xolani Khumalo.
Other mayoral candidates are Reverend Caleb Dhlamini in the Sedibeng District Municipality, Vuyisile Mcunana in Rand West, and Gibsy Diale in Mogale City.
